Not much going on around here right now but I am going to post anyway.

Last night we tried something new for dinner.  We had Tilapia fish and some shrimp that we cooked on the grill.  It turned out well and we will definitely try it again.  We marinated the fish in Dale’s Seasoning and sprinkled the shrimp with Cajun Seasoning.  We served it with rice.  Very tasty.  This morning I stepped on the scale and lost 3 pounds from yesterday.  I told SoGent that we need to have fish every night. His response was “Tonight we will have it in the form of spaghetti.”

Shortly after dinner Drama Queen received a call asking her to babysit  for a couple that lives around the corner.  They have 2 girls and the oldest one was in Hurricane A’s class at school.  The youngest from what I understand is a whirlwind.  DQ has only babysat for 2 other couples and they were both younger kids.  This was her first experience with older children. She got her firsthand taste of children not listening.  She faired well though.  The mother actually called me this morning to say what a good job Drama Queen did and would I mind if she used her again sometime.  I said of course not but it remains to be seen if DQ will want to.

The house was quite with the kids gone.  Since my house was cleaned yesterday by me “cleaning lady” I didn’t have much to do.  SoGent and I sat down and he watched TV while I played solitaire on my laptop.  Exciting I say.  At about 9:00 we retired to our room to watch more TV while getting more comfortable.  We are currently watching King of Queens on DVD.  We started Season 8 last night.  The first episode was hilarious.  I laughed so hard I was crying.  The girls arrived home about this time.  We sent them upstairs so we could go to sleep.  Again, it was so exciting.  Wish you could have been there.

Weight Loss Update

Well,   drumroll please…….I gained a pound!  Bummer.  The scales were not nice to me today.  However I haven’t been as faithful to the program this week as I was the last couple.  I can do real well for breakfast as I always eat a Fiber One Oat and Chocolate granola bar.  That is only 2 points. I do fair for lunch.  This week I have been bringing a ham tortilla and Baked Lays for lunch. That is pretty good but in the afternoon I start craving something to eat.  I have a drawer full of 2 point snacks, but my problem is I have several 2 point snacks!  Well, today I was tired of eating that all week and went to O’charley’s and had chicken fingers and fries. I know!  BAD!!!  I already told my husband that I was not going to eat dinner tonight to try and combat my badness.  Tomorrow is a new day and I will try again.

Nothing else exciting going on.  I have drama rehearsal again tonight.  I was asked to be on the Personnel committee at church.  I accepted that position last night.  SoGent has been asked to be head usher which he is considering. That’s it in a nutshell.

De-Lurking Week


I have noticed this on several sites this week so I thought I would jump on the bandwagon.  Since this is a new site and I am trying to increase my traffic, I would love it if you would leave me a comment to just say Hi.  I would really appreciate it if you came back every day and left comments, let me know I am loved.

Weigh In…..I stepped on the scale this morning to reveal the BIG loss.  It was (drumroll please) 8/10, 0.8 or 8 tenths which ever looks like more.  That’s it, no more.  I don’t know what I expected but I at least wanted a pound.  I’m starving here.

I am trying to get a Weight Watchers group together at work.  We need at least 5 more people before they will send an instructor out.  We lost one girl today that was interested because of the fee.  Can you come?  We can always do it through Cyber space? LOL

Anyway, I expect to read comments from all of you.  Yes you and you.  I seee youuu.

What month is it again?

January…right.  The past couple of days have been in the 60’s and 70’s.  You would think it was April.  It is unseasonably warm which tends to happen around here occasionally in December or January.  It is also tornado season as a result.  Today was the day and thank goodness we were spared the tornadoes but we did have severe thunderstorms.  It was also extremely windy.  When I went out for lunch today, we saw a stop sign that was all but nearly turning in circles in the wind.  Now a cold front is coming through and it is going down to the mid 40’s tonight.  It is no wonder everyone is getting sick.

Now on to the “what did you eat today” section of the post.  I did very well today if I say so myself. (pats self on back)

Yes, I had Froot Loops for dinner.  SoGent went to a basketball game tonight so me and the girls had what we cal “fend for yourself” night.  Since I ate my big meal at lunch, I wanted to eat light.  I finished at just the right amount of points.  Tomorrow I will do a weigh in and see how I am doing.  Cross your fingers.

Today the kids went back to school after their Christmas break.  Is it just me or has this seemed like the longest break.  It almost seems like they have been off all summer.  I tried hard to get us back on a school routine this morning without too mush stress.  Last night before bed we laid out clothes for the day and got backpacks packed, ready and put by the back door.  This morning I gave them only 20 minutes to lay in bed and then I had them get up and get dressed, brush teeth, take medicine for Drama Queen and eat.  We were actually ready with 20 minutes to spare.  It was so nice.  They played with their Nintendo DS’s and I complimented them on the ease of the morning.  It actually starts your day off much better.  Why don’t we do this all the time?

The kids, especially Drama Queen have been battling this sinus mess.  Drama Queen has been to the doctor twice for it and is almost better.  She got sick around December 15 and is just now getting better.  This last time he gave us a prescription for a antibiotic to fill if this antihistamine did not help.  I went ahead and filled it and that is what I think has made her better.  The Dr had mentioned that they are not giving antibiotics as easily any more because more people are becoming immune to them and before long they will no longer work.  I am wondering if that is why it seems like so many people these days are sick and it is taking so long to get over it.  They need antibiotics but the Drs are not prescribing them as much.  What are your thoughts?

Food that I ate today:

2 granola bars, 16 pretzel sticks (wasn’t even worth the effort!), Smart One’s Lasagna (which came no where close to filling me up), WW Carrot cake, Fiber One granola bar and then I was invited to El Porton at the last minute for dinner.  I was doing  so good until then.  I had budgeted with just enough points for dinner.  I had a Chicken Quesadilla with Mexican rice.  Hopefully that was not too bad.  Shhh…I will tell you a secret if you don’t tell my husband.  After eating my Lasagna (that didn’t feel me up) I went to Wal-mart to get low calorie snacks.  I came out $16.00 later and that was literally just for snacks.  I got everything that I thought looked good.  Everyone at work was laughing at me.  I told them that hopefully it would last a couple of weeks.  I was not planning on eating it all in one day!

All in all I guess it was a pretty good day.  I already know that I am going to Tellini’s for lunch with the girls at work tomorrow.  So, I will have to budget my points hard tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Weight Off

One of my resolutions for the new year was to lose some weight.  I am going to do Weight Watchers since that has worked for me in the past.  I am not extremely overweight or anything but I tend to carry all of my weight in my hips and rear end. In other words, I got junk in my trunk!  I would like to lose about 10 pounds.  About 2 years ago I lost weight and went down 2 clothing sizes.  I have since put that weight back on and am really at the point that I need to go up one more clothing size and I refuse!  If I were to do that then I would be at my all time largest.

I am going to use this blog to keep track of my weight loss.  If I am being held accountable, even if by you out in cyberspace, then I am more likely to keep it up.  I will list what I eat daily and also once a week give a recap of whether or not I have lost or gained for the week.  So, here is what I ate today.  I may have blown it already.  I haven’t added up the points but ate some things that I had not intended.

For breakfast I had a Special K Honey Oat granola bar for 2 points.  Pretty good start if I say so myself.   Then I went to church and our Sunday School class brought goodies for January birthdays.  I did good and stayed away from the table until the end.  I started getting hungry towards the end of class.  I wandered over to see what was there, not intending to eat it.  Then I noticed a cream cheese coffee cake that was cut into bite size pieces.  That can’t be that bad. So, I ate one.  Then I started talking to some girls and noticed they were cleaning up the food.  I looked across and saw one more bite size piece left.  I didn’t want them to throw that perfectly good piece of coffee cake away, so  I ate it too.  There that should hold me until lunch.  After church I had a meeting to go to where they catered Tellini’s Italian food.  I had a little piece of Lasagna, little Chicken Tettrazini, salad and  pieces of there breadsticks.  I will tell you now that bread is my weakness.  I will almost always pass up dessert for bread type things.  There was no dessert, thank goodness.  Then for dinner I made Parmesan Chicken.  It consists of a breaded Chicken Patty, spaghetti marinara, mozzarella cheese and spaghetti.  I used low fat cheese.  This was not a “Weight Watchers” meal.  That is the only meal this week that my husband chose.  So, now it is out of the way and hopefully this week I will do better.

Help motivate me and keep me true to my resolution.
